Glass Replacement in Logan and Cache Valley, Utah
Broken pane? Foggy window? You do not need a whole new window to fix it, and you should not pay for one if you do not. T&K Glass replaces the glass itself: in windows, doors, and just about anything else around your home or business that holds a pane. We are a family-owned glass shop in Hyde Park serving Logan and all of Cache Valley, and glass replacement is the heart of what we do. Estimates are free. Call (435) 258-5456.
This is the page for glass-only fixes. If your frames are shot too, or you are ready to upgrade the whole unit, head over to our window replacement page; if you are not sure which you need, call us and we will sort it out at the free estimate instead of guessing.
Glass problems we fix
Broken and cracked panes. Rocks from the lawnmower, hail, a slammed door, a kid's line drive. Whatever did it, we measure the opening, cut or order the right glass, and set it properly. If the break left your home open to the weather, ask about emergency board-up when you call; we can secure the opening the same day so you are not living with a hole in the house while the glass is on its way.
Foggy double-pane windows. When moisture appears between the two panes of glass and will not wipe off from either side, the insulated unit's seal has failed. The window has lost the gas fill that made it efficient, and no amount of cleaning brings it back. The good news: in most cases we can replace just the sealed glass unit inside your existing frame. You keep the window, lose the fog, and pay a fraction of full replacement.
Glass in doors. Sliding patio doors, French doors, front-door lites, and storm doors. Door glass is almost always tempered safety glass, which is a different animal from window glass, and we handle it routinely. A dragging slider with good glass is a hardware problem; a cracked panel in a good door is exactly what this page is about.
Tempered and safety glass. Building code requires tempered safety glass in specific spots: in doors, in glass within two feet of a door, in low windows within 18 inches of the floor, and in and around tubs and showers. Tempered glass is heat-treated so that if it ever breaks it crumbles into small dull pebbles instead of blades, and it cannot be cut after it is made, so it has to be ordered to exact size. We know where code requires it, and we will not quietly put standard glass where safety glass belongs.
Tabletops, shelves, and specialty pieces. Glass for furniture, cabinet doors, and replacement panes for older single-pane windows in Logan's historic homes. If it is flat glass for your home or business, ask; the answer is usually yes. (Custom shower glass and storefront glass each have their own page.)
If the glass just broke, do this first
Before anything else, deal with the sharp stuff and the opening:
- Keep kids and pets out of the room until the loose glass is up. Broken tempered glass crumbles into pebbles; broken standard glass leaves blades. Treat both with respect.
- Do not pull shards out of the frame. Panes under tension can release more glass when you tug on a piece. Leave what is stuck and let us pull it safely with the right gloves and tools.
- Sweep, then vacuum, wearing shoes. Glass travels farther than you think; check a ten-foot radius, and run a flashlight low across the floor to catch slivers the overhead light misses.
- Cover the opening. A layer of cardboard or plastic sheeting taped over the hole keeps weather and bugs out overnight. If the opening is big, ground-level, or you will be away, call us about same-day board-up instead; plywood beats plastic when security is part of the problem.
- Take photos before you clean up if there is any chance of an insurance claim. Adjusters like seeing the scene, not just the aftermath.
Then call (435) 258-5456 and we will get the real fix moving.
What to have ready when you call
You do not need anything to get help, but two minutes of prep gets you a faster, tighter ballpark:
- A photo of the damage and one of the whole window or door from a few steps back
- Rough measurements of the glass (width by height to the nearest half inch is plenty for a ballpark; we confirm exact sizes ourselves before ordering)
- What the glass is in: window, sliding door, front door, basement window, cabinet
- Whether there is fog between panes or visible breakage, and roughly how old the window is
- Your timeline: is the house open to the weather right now, or is this a fix-it-this-month project?
With that, we can usually tell you on the first call whether you are looking at a quick pane swap, a made-to-order sealed unit, or a conversation about full window replacement.
How glass replacement works
- Call or message for a free estimate: (435) 258-5456. For a simple broken pane, measurements over the phone plus a couple of photos are often enough for a ballpark. For sealed units and door glass we will usually measure in person, because sealed units have to be built to exact size.
- We get your glass. Common single-pane sizes can move fast. Made-to-order sealed units and tempered pieces have a build time; most jobs land within about one to three weeks depending on the glass.
- Install. We remove the broken or fogged glass safely, set the new pane, seal it, and clean up the shards and the mess. You get a working, weather-tight window without the construction project.
We are a licensed Utah contractor (#12719492-5501) and we have been doing this across the valley since 2022.
A local note on broken glass in Cache Valley
Glass here does not break politely. Winter gives us freeze-thaw cycles that work on old glazing and stress-crack panes that were already compromised; spring windstorms coming off the Wellsvilles throw branches and debris; summer means mowers, trampolines, and baseballs. We see the seasonal wave every year from Logan and North Logan out to Smithfield, Providence, Nibley, Millville, Hyrum, and Hyde Park, and we run glass calls west to Tremonton and Corinne in Box Elder County, up toward Bear Lake and southern Idaho, and down to Ogden. Wherever you are in the valley, the play is the same: get the opening secured, get the right glass ordered, get it set. We handle all three.
Older homes deserve a special mention. A lot of pre-1980 houses in Logan and Hyrum still carry original single-pane glass in wood sashes. We can replace those panes like-for-like to keep the character, or this is the natural moment to talk about upgrading the whole window; we will lay out both prices and let you choose.
What glass replacement costs
Glass-only work is usually the budget-friendly end of our range. Our jobs overall run $200 to $15,000, and simple pane replacements sit firmly at the low end. What moves the number:
- Type of glass: standard, tempered (required by code in some locations), or an insulated sealed unit
- Size: bigger panes cost more, and oversized pieces take more hands to set
- Access: a ground-floor bedroom window is easier than a two-story stairwell pane
- How many pieces you need done in one trip
If insurance is involved (storm, vandalism, accident) we handle claims and can work from your adjuster's scope. Either way, the estimate costs you nothing: (435) 258-5456.
Glass replacement questions we hear a lot
My double-pane window is foggy. Can it be fixed?
Yes, in most cases, and usually without replacing the whole window. The fog means the sealed unit failed, and we replace that sealed glass unit inside your existing frame. If the frame itself is in bad shape, we will tell you and price a full replacement too so you can compare honestly.
Can you replace just one pane of a double-pane window?
The two panes are built as one sealed unit, so the unit gets replaced as a piece. That is still much cheaper than a whole new window.
Do you offer emergency or same-day board-up?
Yes. If a break has left your home or business open, call (435) 258-5456 and we can board the opening the same day to keep weather and everything else out until your glass arrives.
Does homeowners insurance cover broken glass?
Frequently yes, when the cause is a storm, vandalism, or an accident, minus your deductible. We handle insurance claims regularly and can coordinate with your adjuster's paperwork.
Do you replace windshields or car windows?
No. T&K Glass is home and business glass only; we do not do auto glass. If you searched "glass replacement Logan" looking for a windshield, you want an auto glass shop. For every pane in your house or building, you are in the right place.
