Window Replacement in Cache Valley, Utah
If your windows are old, drafty, broken, or just done, we can help. T&K Glass is a family-owned glass shop in Hyde Park that handles window replacement across Logan and all of Cache Valley. We replace full windows, sliding glass doors, and everything in between, and we have been doing it here since 2022. Estimates are always free. Call (435) 258-5456 and we will come take a look.
Not sure whether you need a whole new window or just new glass? That is the most common question we get, and the honest answer is: it depends on the frame. If your frame is still solid, glass replacement is usually the cheaper fix. If the frame is warped, rotted, or the window will not open and close right, replacement is the better money. We will tell you which one you actually need at the estimate, not the one that costs more.
What we replace
Old and failing windows. Single-pane windows that leak heat all winter, double-pane units that have gone foggy between the panes, windows with rotted or warped frames, and windows that no longer lock or slide. If a window is costing you money or driving you crazy, it is a candidate.
Broken windows. Cracked or shattered from a storm, a rock from the mower, or a baseball. If the damage is glass-only we may be able to save you money with a glass-only replacement instead of a full unit. If it happened last night and there is a hole in your house, ask us about same-day board-up so the weather stays outside until the new window is in.
Sliding glass doors. Patio sliders take more abuse than any window in the house. We replace complete sliding glass door units, and when the door itself is fine but the glass is broken or fogged, we can often replace just the panel. If the door is dragging or off its track, bring that up at the estimate; sometimes the fix is much smaller than a full replacement.
New windows for additions and remodels. Adding a bedroom, finishing a basement, or bumping out a kitchen? We sell and install new windows for remodels, and we supply windows to contractors through our new-construction line.
We install quality window brands including Marvin and Cascade Windows. At the estimate we will walk through the options that fit your house and your budget instead of pushing one brand at you.
How it works
- Free estimate. Call (435) 258-5456 or send us a message. We will look at your windows, measure, and give you a straight price. No fee, no pressure, no three-hour sales pitch.
- We order your windows. Replacement windows are made to your measurements, so there is a build time. Most jobs run about one to three weeks from order to install depending on the product and season.
- Install day. We pull the old unit, set and seal the new one, and make sure it opens, closes, and locks the way it should before we leave. We clean up after ourselves, including the old windows and glass.
- Walk-through. You check every window with us before we call it done.
We are a licensed Utah contractor (license #12719492-5501), so the work is done to code and there is a real, accountable business behind it.
Signs your windows are ready to be replaced
You do not have to wait for a pane to shatter. These are the signals we see most in Cache Valley homes:
- Fog or moisture between the panes. That is a failed seal on a double-pane unit. The insulating gas is gone and the window is not doing its job anymore. Sometimes the fix is glass-only; sometimes the unit is old enough that replacement makes more sense.
- Drafts you can feel. Hold a hand near the frame edges on a windy day. If you feel moving air with the window locked, you are paying to heat the outdoors.
- Windows that stick, drop, or will not lock. A window you cannot open is a safety problem in a bedroom, and a window that will not lock is a security problem everywhere.
- Condensation and ice on the inside every winter morning. Some interior condensation is humidity, but heavy, recurring ice-up usually means the window itself is underperforming.
- Rooms that never hold temperature. If one room runs cold every winter and hot every July, its windows are the first suspects.
- Rot, soft spots, or peeling around the frame. Once water is in the wood, patching is temporary. Replacement stops the damage from spreading into the wall.
One or two of these on a newer window might just mean a repair. Several of them on windows past their twentieth birthday usually means it is time. Either way, the estimate is free and we will give you the honest read.
What you are actually choosing when you pick new windows
The window itself matters as much as the install. A few plain-English basics we will walk through with you:
- Double-pane glass is the standard now: two panes with an insulating space between them. If you are replacing single-pane windows from an older Logan or Hyrum home, this alone is the biggest comfort jump.
- Low-E coatings are microscopically thin metallic layers that reflect heat back where it came from: into the house in January, away from it in July. In a climate that swings from below zero to the high 90s like ours, low-E earns its keep in both directions.
- Frame material drives feel and maintenance. Vinyl is the value workhorse; fiberglass and clad-wood cost more and look and last like it.
- Style (single-hung, slider, casement, picture) is partly taste and partly function; egress rules also set minimums for bedroom windows, which we will flag where they apply.
We carry quality lines including Marvin and Cascade Windows and will match the package to your house and budget at the estimate rather than upselling you a tier you do not need. Both brands stand behind their windows with strong manufacturer warranties: Marvin warranties its glass for 20 years, and Cascade offers a limited lifetime warranty to the original homeowner. We stand behind our installation, too.
Window replacement in Logan, Hyde Park, Smithfield, and beyond
Our shop is in Hyde Park, a few minutes north of Logan, which puts most of Cache Valley within a short drive: Logan, North Logan, Smithfield, Hyde Park, Providence, Millville, Nibley, Hyrum, and the rest of the valley. We also run jobs west into Box Elder County, including Tremonton and Corinne, north into the Bear Lake area and southern Idaho, and south as far as Ogden.
That coverage matters more than it sounds. Cache Valley winters are hard on windows: single-digit January nights find every bad seal in the house, and summer canyon winds do the rest. A lot of the housing stock in Logan and the older parts of Smithfield and Hyrum still has original single-pane windows, and replacing those with modern double-pane units is one of the most noticeable comfort upgrades you can make to an older valley home. If you live outside the towns listed here, call anyway; if we can reasonably get to you, we will.
What window replacement costs
Every house is different, so we will not pretend there is one number. Our jobs generally fall between $200 and $15,000: a single standard window sits at the low end, and a whole-house replacement with premium windows sits at the top. The honest drivers of price are:
- How many windows you are replacing (per-window cost drops as count goes up)
- Size and type (a big picture window or a sliding door costs more than a standard bedroom window)
- The brand and glass package you pick
- Condition of the openings (rot or out-of-square framing adds work)
The estimate is free either way, so the fastest path to a real number for your house is a phone call. If the damage came from a storm or an accident, we handle insurance claims and can work from your adjuster's paperwork.
Window replacement questions we hear a lot
Can you replace just the glass instead of the whole window?
Often, yes. If the frame is sound and the problem is broken or foggy glass, a glass-only swap is cheaper and faster. We cover that on our glass replacement page, and we will tell you at the estimate which one your window actually needs.
How long does window replacement take?
Plan on roughly one to three weeks from your estimate to install, mostly build time on the windows themselves. The install itself usually takes a day for most homes. Exact timing depends on the product and the season, and we will give you a real date when we order.
Do you replace sliding glass doors?
Yes. Full units, or just the glass panel when the door frame is still good. Sliding doors are one of the most common things we get called about.
Does homeowners insurance cover broken windows?
If the breakage came from a storm, vandalism, or an accident, it often does, subject to your deductible. We handle insurance work and can bill against your claim. Check your policy or ask your agent about your specific coverage.
Do you do windshields or car windows?
No. We do home and business glass only, no auto glass. For a windshield you want an auto glass shop; for every other pane of glass in your life, you want us.
